A 35-year-old Derbyshire woman, who managed Peak Pet Cremations, has been warned by a judge she could face jail after admitting charges of fraud relating to the discovery of the bodies of animals that had previously been sent to her for cremation.

Emma Bent pleaded guilty today at Derby Crown Court to six charges of fraudulently claiming to cremate six pets - three dogs, two cats and a guinea pig who all died in the summer of 2009.

Their bodies were found in Lower Hartshay, near Ripley, in August 2009.

Emma Bent will appear again for sentencing on February 2.

Peak Pet Cremations, which had a contract with a local vet group, closed down shortly after the bodies were found.
